Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 2, 2026
1. Overview
Do I Have a Case? ("Do I Have a Case?", "we", "us", or "our") provides online legal intake and organization software. Our services allow individuals to describe legal situations and allow participating law firms and attorneys to receive structured intake information for review.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we share it, and the choices available to you.
2. Information We Collect
Depending on how you use our services, we may collect:
- Contact information such as your name, email address, and phone number.
- Information you provide when describing a legal situation, including facts, dates, events, people involved, evidence, witnesses, harm, and desired outcomes.
- Audio recordings you choose to submit for transcription and the resulting text transcription.
- Information generated or organized by our systems from the information you provide, such as a private case file, identity-protected marketplace preview, practice-area classification, and lead-quality signal.
- Account information when you create an account, including consumer contact information and attorney account information such as name, firm name, bar number, and primary licensed state.
- Marketplace purchase and payment-related information. Payment card information is collected and processed by our payment processor rather than by us.
- Technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, and information about how you interact with our services.
3. Legal Information You Provide
Our services may receive information about potentially sensitive legal matters. You should provide only information you are comfortable submitting through an online intake service.
Submitting information to Do I Have a Case? does not by itself create an attorney-client relationship between you and Do I Have a Case?, or between you and any attorney or law firm.
4. How We Use Information
We use information we collect to:
- Provide and operate our intake services.
- Organize information into structured intake materials for attorney or law-firm review.
- Facilitate the presentation or connection of matters to participating attorneys or law firms.
- Create and maintain user and law-firm accounts.
- Process marketplace purchases and payments.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, secure, and improve our services.
- Prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.
- Comply with applicable legal obligations.
We do not use consumer-submitted legal information for independent legal advice or to make a legal determination on behalf of a user.
5. Artificial Intelligence
We use artificial intelligence and automated systems to help conduct intake conversations, identify and organize information, and create structured summaries for review.
AI-generated information is intended to assist with intake and organization. It is not legal advice and should not be treated as a determination that a person has or does not have a legal claim.
6. How We Share Information
We may share information as necessary to provide our services. Before a marketplace purchase, participating attorneys may view an identity-protected preview of a matter. The preview is designed not to include the consumer's direct contact information, although it may include generalized facts needed to evaluate the matter.
If an attorney or law firm completes an exclusive marketplace purchase, we may provide that purchaser with the associated private case file and the consumer's submitted contact information so that the purchaser can evaluate and contact the consumer about the matter.
We may also share information with service providers that help us operate our business, such as hosting, database, artificial intelligence, payment-processing, security, and infrastructure providers.
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, legal process, protect our rights, investigate fraud or abuse, or protect the safety of users or others.
We do not sell consumer-submitted legal information as a standalone product to unrelated third parties.
7. Law Firms and Attorneys
Participating attorneys and law firms are independently responsible for their use, handling, retention, and protection of information they receive through the marketplace and for complying with their own legal and professional obligations.
We do not publicly display a consumer's direct contact information in marketplace previews.
8. Service Providers
We rely on third-party service providers to operate portions of our platform. These providers may process information on our behalf and include providers for cloud hosting, databases, authentication, artificial intelligence processing, payments, security, and related infrastructure. Our current providers may include OpenAI for AI and transcription processing, Supabase for authentication and database services, and Stripe for payment processing.
9. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide our services, maintain accounts and business records, facilitate attorney or law-firm use of the platform, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with legal obligations.
Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and the purpose for which it was collected.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure.
However, no method of transmitting or storing information can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
11. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live and applicable law, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain uses of your information.
To request information about your personal data or ask a privacy-related question, contact us at support@doihaveacase.tech.
12. Children's Privacy
Our services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we may update the effective date or provide additional notice where appropriate.
